Don’t be surprised if it takes you a few goes to find Willow Manor. This really is a hidden gem and even most locals remain unaware of its whereabouts.....

.... Tucked away among tall trees in lush gardens, it’s no surprise that many drive past for years without ever noticing it. Once located, the gardens are the first thing to catch the eye. Donna tells me the 1860 ivy-clad manor was once a large farm; no horses roaming the gardens today though, just happy guests. Herb gardens, a pool and a large hammock hanging invitingly under the maple, beech and apple trees make this a prime relaxation spot. Since Donna is also a nutritionist you’ll probably find a few of the herbs have strayed on to your breakfast plate, along with delicious home-made granola, piles of fruit and perhaps a local Mennonite sausage (that’s made by, not made of…). The emphasis is on health here, although you’ll be glad to hear the cookie jar is never empty. The interior has the feel of a grand English country house with fresh, pale colours, wooden floors and high ceilings. The luxurious rooms vary from the ladies’ favourite ‘Springtime’ to the bold ‘Striped Room’. With its smart blue-striped walls and huge window on to the garden this was my favourite. Whether away on business or pleasure, this is a spot well worth finding.
