Quebec City is one of the most attractive towns in North America; Château Frontenac is its crowning glory… and guests of Michèle and Jean have the panorama served up to them from this large Victorian house on the south side of the St Lawrence River. Five minutes to the ferry then ten minutes on the boat take you oh-so-conveniently to the heart of the old quarter.....

.... Most guests leave their cars at the B&B for the duration of their stay and explore à pied as we Greenwoodiens francophones would have it. The house to which they return is a B&B for all the right reasons. Having left successful careers in the world of banking, Michèle and Jean now run it simply for the love of having guests. Everyone usually eats together at a large table in the yellow, natural-wood breakfast room or outside on the Quebec-facing terrace. Elsewhere there’s lots of family furniture, a handsome wooden staircase, piano and paintings. The bedrooms have wooden floors and high ceilings and my favourite was probably downstairs, with its solid four-poster. ‘The Castle’ might claim the best views, but ‘The Bathroom’ offers a particular treat for those who want to gorge their eyes while they soap their thighs. As it were. Good English spoken here.
