After a rather unsatisfactory inn experience as a guest elsewhere, Penny decided she could do it better herself. The ‘For Sale’ sign outside The Silver Fox provided the perfect opportunity, and three years down the line I’m sure none of her guests have reached the same conclusion.....

.... Built in 1892 by William Critchlow Harris, PEI’s foremost architect, the house was later owned by wealthy fox-breeders, hence the name. Penny and Rod have not let the standards drop and today the Silver Fox Inn is a place to wind down and lap up the luxury. My room, Platinum Fox, was divine. With its canopy and mountains of cushions the bed was my idea of heaven. Hell was having to get out of it again. Penny has thought of everything: chocolates, soaps and Evian welcome you, while the bathroom has treats such as massagers, bath pearls and hot-water bottles. Breakfast more than compensated for the trauma of having to get out of bed. Delectable little sun-dried tomato quiches and smoked salmon were on offer next to the usual breakfast fare. Thanks to Penny’s sideline in antiques the inn is bursting with treasures, the porch doubling as a shop for her various finds. Guests here are thoroughly spoilt, and Penny and Rod are great fun to boot. 3 minutes walk from downtown Summerside. On Confederation Trail and Heritage Tour Walk.
