Jan and Bob spent months searching for this spot and 38 years after finding it, they’re still tickled pink. They wanted somewhere secluded, with no road separating the property from the sea.....

.... Bob saw the land at a time when he was meant to be property-hunting in New England, but his new wife took the change of plan in her stride and they were soon Nova Scotians. Much wood-clearing created the property they had been craving, and peerless views of the Gulf of St Lawrence, served up in the most peaceful of atmospheres, are the result. You turn off the coast road a few kilometres south of the Cabot Trail and pass through a small wood before spying the Wheelers’ wooden house at the end of the clearing. You can enjoy excellent B&B and your hosts’ wise company here or, alternatively, there are two self-contained cottages above the house. The Wheelers’ pride is The Cliff, which has few walls, much light and all creature comforts. Bob, who can build just about anything, has created look-out balconies a few metres from the cottages where you can watch the sea crashing on the rocks below. And if the water tempts you, there’s a private beach shared with just two other houses.
